Mary (aged 12) is passionate about  fossils, which she collects and sells with her father. When her father dies  before he can show her the giant eye he claims to have seen in the rock, Mary  vows to find it for him. To save her family from destitution by selling it;  and to clear the name of her beloved father, whom everyone now thinks is a  madman!
